Milton, Fla. — In an effort to phase out older vehicles that are polluting the environment, Maruti Suzuki Toyota India, a joint venture between Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Maruti Suzuki India, recently opened an end-of-life (ELV) scrapping/recycling facility in Noida (New Okhla Industrial Development Authority), India. As an auto recycling facility, Butler’s Auto Recycling is proud to see such large companies recycling all around the globe.
“Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has launched the visionary National Automobile Scrappage Policy aimed at creating an ecosystem for phasing out unfit and polluting vehicles from the Indian roads. To meet this objective, we need state-of-the-art scrapping and recycling units. I would like to congratulate Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Tsusho Group for setting up this modern facility as per global standards. I would request Maruti and other stakeholders to build and create an ecosystem of similar scrapping and recycling units across the country. This would make the roads safer, air cleaner, and the raw material cheaper for their cars,” stated Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, who inaugurated the new facility.
The facility has the capacity to scrap and recycle 24,000 ELV’s every year and follows globally-approved standards for solid/liquid waste management that ensure 0% discharge of gases or liquids from the ELV’s. According to an article shared in Business Standard, when a vehicle arrives at Maruti Suzuki Toyota India, it will first be inspected, and “it will then be sent for pre-treatment and de-pollution and parts and aggregates like batteries and airbags will be extracted to ensure zero discharge. Thereafter it will proceed for dismantling in accordance with international best practices and processing, and segregation of scrap material will take place. The vehicle shell will be compressed into a bale to ensure easy storage and transportation.”
